Bio
Arcadio M Lanz is a composer and musician whose work spans across
music for film, dance, and interdisciplinary projects. Since 2005,
he has worked on numerous projects, with a particular focus on
composing for documentaries and videodance. His recent works
include the original score for the documentary Formas de Atravesar
Un Territorio (Mexico, 2024) by Gabriela Ruvalcaba, which has been
featured at international festivals such as Locarno and IDFA, as
well as for Giro Polar (Mexico, 2020), which earned him
international awards like the New York Cinematography Award and
the Nature Without Borders Film Festival.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned artists
and collectives such as Diego Luna, Ray Schwartz, Zap McConnell,
and the Chicken Bank Collective, and has composed for projects
like Postales Poéticas (Mexico, 2017) series for Canal 22 and the
documentary series Mi Ciudad en Bicicleta (Mexico, 2015). He was
in charge of the composition for two editions of the Concierto de
Campanas in San Pedro Cholula (2014 and 2015), a project in which
he incorporated the bells of 28 churches into a quadraphonic
installation.
While his main focus remains music, he has also worked in sound
design and audio for projects such as Secondary Succession (USA,
2016) by Chicken Bank Collective, and podcast mixing for Into This
Podcast (Canada, 2022) by Marx Ruiz Wilson.
In recent years, he has expanded his professional scope by
exploring web development and photography, seeking to extend the
creative process to social projects. As a developer, he designed
the platform for the A Chorus of Singing Rivers (Netherlands,
2024) project at Wageningen University and has been responsible
for the development of websites for social projects by Redes A.C.
and Rhizomatica in Mexico. He also works as a photographer for
social projects and concerts in renowned venues such as Het
Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
